Summer 1 - 2025
We’re excited to welcome the Summer term, where we’ll be exploring lyrics and poetry through inspirational songs like The Fight Song and The Climb. These will spark creative discussions and writing as we delve into the power of words and self-expression.
In maths, we’ll be consolidating our understanding of key concepts, including number skills, fractions, multiplication, and division.
Our Topic lessons will focus on human geography, covering types of settlements and land use, economic activity and trade links, as well as the distribution of natural resources such as energy, food, minerals, and water.
In Music, we’ll begin preparing for our much-anticipated end-of-year play — we can’t wait to share it with you!
Spring 2 - 2025
We’re wrapping up the Spring term with a deep dive into Wonder by R.J. Palacio. This powerful story has inspired us to explore themes such as prejudice and empathy through diary writing and class debates.
In maths, we’ve been learning about time and how it shapes our daily routines. The children will create their own timetables and continue developing their understanding of statistics, as well as measurement in capacity and volume.
Our Topic lessons have taken us back in time to explore crime and punishment during the Tudor and Anglo-Saxon periods. This theme flows into our art sessions, where we’ll be designing our own symbolic representations of law and justice.
Spring 1 - 2025
In Spring 1, we'll be diving into the world of poetry, with a special focus on Revolting Rhymes. Each week, we’ll explore a new poem, working on memorisation, performance, and writing our own creative pieces to share with the class.
In maths, we’ll build on our core number skills and tackle more challenging concepts to stretch our thinking.'
Our Topic lessons will take us on a global journey as we explore geographical similarities and differences by studying the human and physical geography of the Alps, the Amazon Rainforest, and the Scottish Highlands.
In art, we’ll be inspired by Caribbean artists as we learn about their vibrant styles and create our own artwork in response.
Autumn 2 - 2024
We're all excited to kick off Autumn 2 in Scott class! This term, we'll be diving into the story Billionaire Boy. Our English work will focus on writing informal letters, comparing formal and informal styles, crafting newspaper reports, and engaging in debates.
In maths, we'll be exploring multiplication, division, sequencing and sorting, patterns, measurement, and fractions.
Our topic lessons will take us back in time as we learn about the fascinating Shang Dynasty. In music, we'll be rehearsing our performances for Applebee Wood’s Got Talent — we can’t wait to see everyone shine!
Autumn 1 - 2024
We're ready for a busy and exciting term in Scott Class. We have lots of interesting learning ahead. In Literacy we will be diving into Macbeth and William Shakespeare. In Maths, we'll be focusing on building our basic number skills, along with some work on shape and money.
In Topic, we are exploring physical geography. The children will also have plenty of Creative Art lessons and will have the chance to practise their songs for the A-Factor later in the term.
