All over the country, school governors are assisting headteachers and staff, ensuring the next generation gets the best from school. The government is committed to raising educational standards in the classroom, and to increasing the role of parents and the local community. Governors bring a range of experience and interests from many walks of life. They work closely with others to make good decisions - and make sure their decisions are followed up.


The Governing Body:-


  • is accountable for the performance of the school to parents and the wider community
  • plans the schools future and upholds the school’s vision
  • selects the headteacher
  • makes decisions on the school's budget and staffing
  • ensures the National Curriculum is taught
  • decides how the school can encourage pupils' spiritual, moral and cultural development
  • makes sure the school provides for all its pupils, especially those with special needs


The Governing Body is organised into three main Committees:

  • Curriculum, teaching and learning
  • Premises, health and safety
  • Finance and staffing 


They also meet termly as a full governing body. 


Other Committees are set up, as required, eg a committee for hearing a grievance.



None of our Governors has any business interests which conflict with their role in the school and none is related to any member of staff.  A copy of the latest Governing Body Meeting Minutes is available upon request from the Headteacher.


If you have any concerns or queries you should contact the school so the matter can be discussed with the Headteacher.  If a parent is still concerned about an issue, formal written complaints may be made to the Governing Body, details of the procedure are available upon request.  Governors would also like to hear about success and positive aspects of school life so please do not hesitate to let them know.
