British Values and Cultural Capital

Cultural Capital is ... the essential knowledge that pupils need to be educated citizens, introducing them to the best that has been thought and said and helping to engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.

At Applebee Wood, cultural capital is embedded within school life. Our PSHE and ASDAN curriculum offer life skills in discrete lessons. Each class has cooking lessons.  Pupils work towards a Functional Skills qualifications in Maths, English and ICT.

Other subjects enhance learning by offering school trips. In Maths, opportunities are there to use mathematical skills in real life.

There are reward trips arranged for pupils in the house that has the most house points each term.

As school, we take part in various competitions, such as  Cheerleading, Penwortham in Bloom and various sporting events.
