Admissions

Applebee Wood School offers places for pupils aged 4-16 with Special Educational Needs. Pupils have a wide range of needs including pupils with Moderate Learning difficulties (MLD), pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), pupils with Autism (ASD). Throughout the school pupils have additional needs arising from sensory impairments and physical disabilities.

All pupils attending Applebee Wood School must have an Education Health and Care Plan.

As a local authority maintained special school, we are governed by the admission arrangements laid down by Lancashire County Council. For admissions information contact the local authority Special Educational Needs Department (SEND) on  01772 531 597

The majority of our admissions take place in September but they may be made at any time during the year.  Prospective parents and their children are encouraged to visit us and see what we have to offer - to experience the school at work.

Places are offered subject to agreement of the Local Authority Admissions Panel; availability and suitability; and only if parents/carers feel they can support the guidelines and ethos.

We believe the key to success at Applebee Wood is mutual co-operation and honesty between parents and staff.

Parents are asked to inform the school immediately of any change of address and/or telephone number.  A data collection form is provided so that we have pupil details such as emergency contact numbers, medical needs, etc.
